Over 80 tonnes of Icelandic energy equipment go to five Ukrainian regions

Iceland's energy aid reaches Ukrainian regions

More than 80 tonnes of equipment supplied by the Icelandic company Landsnet hf have been moved from Ministry of Energy emergency aid hubs to power utilities in the Ternopil, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Kirovohrad regions. The gear is meant to help keep Ukraine's power system running smoothly, support electricity transmission and distribution, and enable repairs and grid protection work.

In a separate move, Iceland's foreign ministry added €550,000 to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, lifting the country's total contribution to almost €9 million. Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stressed that about €650 million in additional support is still required to fully ready the energy system for the coming heating season. He warned that the winter will be challenging and that international backing must not slow down.

Global solidarity with Ukraine's energy sector

Earlier reports had already put Iceland's fund contribution at over €8.4 million, with more than €2 million allocated specifically for energy-related support. This latest delivery and funding underscore how closely international partners are working with Ukraine to address energy challenges.

The equipment and financial aid from Iceland arrive at a critical time, as stabilization of the energy sector becomes even more pressing with winter approaching. Beyond improving infrastructure, such contributions send a clear signal of solidarity as Ukraine seeks additional investment to meet its energy needs.

As Ukraine continues to address its energy challenges, the recent delivery of over 80 tonnes of equipment from Iceland highlights the ongoing international support. This follows a previous aid package where nearly €5 million worth of energy resources was provided to various regions, emphasizing the collaborative efforts to stabilize the energy sector during the critical winter months.
