Revive Housing Subsidy Initiative in La Rioja
La Rioja, a region in Spain, has launched the Revive subsidy program aimed at encouraging home purchases and construction in villages with populations below 5,000 residents. Subsidy Breakdown by Village Size
The Revive program offers varying subsidy levels based on the population of the locality:
- Villages with up to 500 inhabitants qualify for a subsidy covering up to 40% of the purchase price, capped at €40,000.
- Settlements housing between 501 and 2,000 people are eligible for a 30% subsidy, with a maximum of €30,000.
- Communities with populations from 2,001 to 5,000 can receive a 20% subsidy, up to €20,000.
To qualify for the highest subsidy tier of €40,000, the property's value must be at least €100,000.
Eligible applicants include Spanish citizens, residents of other European Union countries, and foreigners holding legal residency permits in Spain. Income limits apply, with earnings capped at six times the Public Income Index (IPREM). By 2026, this threshold will range from €43,200 to €50,400 annually. Additionally, properties purchased or constructed must serve as the applicant's primary residence.
The program supports both renovation projects and new construction. Subsidy payments are disbursed only after compliance with all requirements is verified and proper documentation—such as purchase agreements or proof of completed work—is submitted. Initially set with a budget of €12 million, the program's funding was increased to €15.1 million to accommodate more participants.
