The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has published a report revealing the plans of the Russian dictator Putin for the upcoming meeting with US President Trump in Alaska. According to analysts, the Kremlin intends to use the summit to create disagreements between the US and Europe rather than to achieve peace.
Russian officials accused Europe of hindering the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Markov stated that Moscow wants to portray Ukraine and Europe as obstacles to peace, freeing itself from responsibility. He also expressed hope that Trump would identify President Zelensky as the main cause of the war, excluding blame on Russia.
'The Kremlin has long sought to weaken unity between the US, Europe, and Ukraine to curb Western support for Ukraine and distract attention from Russia's defiance,' the ISW report quotes.
Analysts also warn that Russia will not be ready for compromises on its military objectives and will likely violate any ceasefire agreements in the future.
The ISW report reveals Putin's plans for the upcoming meeting with Trump and highlights Russia's unwillingness to compromise on military issues, emphasizing the danger such an approach may pose for international security.
