Italy will invest over €42 million in the restoration of infrastructure in Ukraine

Italy plans to invest over €42 million in the restoration and modernization of infrastructure in Ukraine, particularly in the Odesa region. Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksii Kubel announced this news during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2025) in Rome.

At the conference, grant agreements totaling €35.5 million were signed, which will be directed towards the restoration of six architectural monuments in Ukraine. Additionally, together with UNESCO, €500,000 was allocated for the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa, which was damaged by shelling.

Financial support for key projects

Part of this money will be invested in key economic and infrastructure projects. In particular, €6 million will be allocated for the modernization of irrigation systems in the Odesa region, which is crucial for the agricultural sector. Furthermore, Italy supports Ukrainian energy initiatives.

Development of cooperation between Ukraine and Italy

Kubela also emphasized that Ukraine and Italy are actively cooperating in the fields of cybersecurity, digital technologies, and transport initiatives.

Thank you to the people and government of the Italian Republic for supporting Ukrainians in the most difficult times. I am grateful to Italy for helping strengthen defense capabilities and the reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as for the decision to continue providing military-technical support.

Support from Italy is of great importance to Ukraine in its recovery and development. Let us remind that on December 4, Odesa suffered again from drone attacks, resulting in injuries to six people.
