Continuation of military aid to Ukraine
The Italian cabinet has decided to continue providing military assistance to Ukraine, despite opposition from the 'League' party. This decree is the 11th continuation of aid from Italy and confirms the country's commitment to support Ukraine in its efforts.
According to the new decree, Italy plans to continue military assistance to Ukraine until 2026. The decree was signed by Italy's Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, indicating the official support of the government in this regard. In addition, Italy has also officially approved the twelfth military aid package for Ukraine.
Political situation in Italy
The 'League' party, which opposes further military assistance to Ukraine, was unable to prevent the adoption of this decree. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasized that
“Italy will support Ukraine as long as necessary”.
Additionally, the Georgian Energy Development Fund provided Ukraine with nine generators worth 1.5 million lari, which indicates international support for Ukraine from various countries.
The continuation of military aid to Ukraine from Italy indicates Rome's stable position on supporting Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity. This decision also highlights the internal political debates in Italy, where the opposition party 'League' is trying to influence government policy, but despite this, the government continues to uphold its commitments. Given the global context of the conflict in Ukraine, such assistance may be crucial for enhancing Ukraine's defense capability and stability in the region.
