World swimming champion Benedetta Pilato and another swimmer of the Italian team, Chiara Tarantino, found themselves in an unpleasant story due to a theft at a store in Singapore airport. The August incident led to their temporary suspension from sporting events by the decision of the prosecutor's office.

“In view of the facts discovered during the investigation and the athletes' willingness to cooperate, having admitted their guilt, the prosecutor's office ordered their removal from public and state activities for a period of 90 days,” the FIN statement reads.

As a result, Pilato and Tarantino are prohibited from participating in a series of swimming competitions, including the European Championship and the World Championship in Singapore. Meanwhile, Russian freestyler Anastasia Tatalina has appealed to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games, although her ties to the Russian military club CSKA, linked to aggression against Ukraine, cause outrage.
