The Middle East Situation
During an interview with political scientist Yuriy Romanenko, analyst Tigran Avakyan shared his perspective on the Middle East, focusing on Israel's role in relation to Lebanon and Iran. Avakyan stated that Israel currently occupies between 10% and 14% of Lebanese territory, a situation which is influencing the region's demographic landscape. He described this area as a security zone from which the local population is gradually departing.
Furthermore, the analyst emphasized that Israel has destroyed military infrastructure that Iran had been building up over many years.
"Israel has destroyed Iran's might. In many ways, this is no longer the same Iran. Iran has been set back quite seriously, by decades," noted Tigran Avakyan. He portrayed Iran as a country facing significant difficulties and one that is now fighting using non-military methods. This long-standing proxy conflict is a key driver of instability in the region.
Military and Political Context
Avakyan also remarked that he does not consider the situation to be bad for Israel, but suggested it could have negative consequences for both the United States and Israel.
"In many ways, it is a ruined country that fights using non-military methods. That's why I am not mentioning Israel. I am not saying this is bad for Israel," he concluded. In this way, the analyst underscores the importance of the military and political dynamics in the region, which significantly impact the balance of power in the Middle East.
The situation in the Middle East remains complex, and expert opinions like those of Tigran Avakyan indicate that military actions and shifts in the geopolitical context could have far-reaching consequences. It is important to consider that conflicts in this region can affect not only local states but also global relationships, particularly between the United States and its allies like Israel. How these factors will influence the future strategies of the countries involved in this conflict remains an open question.
