Support for Families with Disabled Children
The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has directed UAH 56.6 million in donor aid to provide one-time payments to families with children classified as having a disability of subgroup A. This initiative will see over 8,700 families receive a payment of UAH 6,500, which will be administered through the Pension Fund over the coming months. This targeted assistance is part of a broader social support program that began on April 1st, which also includes a separate one-time payment of UAH 1,500. The funding is provided by donors in cooperation with UNICEF as part of humanitarian and other aid to the civilian population, with UAH 49.9 million constituting the primary donor resource and a further UAH 6.7 million coming from previously allocated humanitarian funds.
Regions Receiving Payments
The payments will be distributed across nine regions of Ukraine:
- Chernihiv
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Donetsk
- Kharkiv
- Kherson
- Mykolaiv
- Odesa
- Sumy
- Zaporizhzhia
This targeted support is designed to aid the most vulnerable segments of the population, specifically families with children in the highest disability category. These regions have been significantly impacted by the ongoing conflict, increasing the strain on families with special needs. This program represents a key component of Ukraine's social policy, aiming to assist families facing difficult circumstances and to improve their financial stability during a challenging period. The implementation of such measures highlights the joint efforts of the state and international partners to address social inequality and ensure equal opportunities for all citizens.
In addition to the one-time payment of UAH 6,500 for families with disabled children, the government is also implementing a separate one-time assistance of 1,500 UAH for eligible Ukrainians in April. This initiative aims to further support those facing financial hardships amid the ongoing crisis, showcasing the government's commitment to providing relief to its citizens during these challenging times.
