The government allocated 70 million UAH for anti-drone protection in Sumy region
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allocated 70 million UAH from the reserve fund of the state budget for equipping anti-drone protective structures on logistics routes in the Sumy region. The funds were received by the Sumy Regional Military Administration, which will strengthen the protection of another 37 km of routes.
Sumy region faces daily drone attacks, including FPV drones, which complicate the evacuation of civilians, the movement of emergency and rescue services, as well as transport operations. Vitaliy Kindratiev, Deputy Minister of Economy and Environment of Ukraine, emphasized that
“the allocated 70 million UAH will allow strengthening protection for another 37 kilometers of routes in Sumy region that are used by the Defense Forces, emergency and rescue services, as well as civilian transport. In the conditions of constant attacks by FPV drones, such decisions need to be implemented as quickly as possible.”

The Ministry of Defense supported the allocation of funding on the condition of agreeing on the relevant areas with military units and including them in the military command plans. The locations for the installation of protective structures will be determined promptly, taking into account the security situation and the needs of military command.
Earlier funding for anti-drone protection
Earlier, in 2026, 60 million UAH was already allocated for anti-drone protection from the regional budget and 24 million UAH from the city budget of Sumy.
The allocation of additional funds for anti-drone protection in Sumy region indicates a growing need to ensure safety in areas that are regularly subjected to drone attacks. This decision aims not only to protect military and rescue services but also to ensure the safety of the civilian population, which is especially important in the context of active fighting. The effective implementation of the project can significantly reduce the risks associated with the use of drones by the enemy and improve the situation regarding the evacuation of civilians and the functioning of transport in the region.
