Independence Day Cash Payouts Set by Ukrainian Cabinet: From Hr 450 to Hr 3,100

Український уряд оголосив про нові виплати до Дня незалежності: суми від 450 до 3100 гривень.

One-Time Financial Assistance for Ukraine's Independence Day

On May 13, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted Resolution No. 602, outlining the amounts of one-time cash payments to be issued for Ukraine's Independence Day. These payments target various categories of veterans and victims of Nazi persecution, ranging from Hr 450 to Hr 3,100 depending on the recipient's status. This annual initiative underscores the government's ongoing commitment to honoring those who served or suffered during critical periods in the nation's history.

Payment Breakdown by Category

Under the approved resolution, individuals recognized for exceptional service to the homeland will receive Hr 3,100. The same amount applies to:

  • Persons with disabilities resulting from war;
  • Former minor prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, or other forced detention sites who are classified as having Group I disabilities.

Those with Group II disabilities will receive Hr 2,900, while Group III disability recipients will get Hr 2,700.

Combatants, wounded participants of the Revolution of Dignity, former underage prisoners of concentration camps and ghettos, and children born in such forced detention facilities are entitled to Hr 1,000 each. Family members of deceased veterans of war, deceased Defenders of Ukraine, and widows or widowers of individuals who died from war-related disabilities (provided they have not remarried) will receive Hr 650.

For war participants, former inmates of concentration camps, ghettos, and other forced detention sites, individuals forcibly deported for forced labor, and children of partisans, underground fighters, and other anti-Nazi resistance members, the payout is set at Hr 450.

The procedure for distributing these one-time payments is governed by Cabinet Resolution No. 1396, adopted on December 27, 2023. This effort aims to support those who made significant contributions to the country's defense or endured persecution during wartime.

The Cabinet of Ministers' resolution on one-time cash payments for Ukraine's Independence Day marks a crucial step in recognizing and aiding veterans and Nazi persecution victims.

It highlights the state's commitment to social protection for those who survived the nation's most difficult historical periods. Such financial support can improve the well-being of these groups and encourage their greater social engagement within the community.

In addition to the cash payouts announced for Independence Day, the Ukrainian government is also taking significant steps to support veterans through housing initiatives. Recently, a budget of $140 million was approved to assist over 2,150 veterans in securing housing. This comprehensive approach highlights the government's commitment to addressing the needs of those who have served the nation.
