Ban on the disconnection of hospitals
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a decision that prohibits the disconnection of healthcare facilities from electricity supply during restrictions on electricity supply. This decision concerns the autumn-winter period of 2025/26 and aims to ensure the stable operation of hospitals and other medical institutions. The ban is an important step for the protection of health and lives of people, as emphasized in the statement by Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko:
“Health and lives of people are not a reason for manipulation and loud headlines”

Currently, part of the hospitals in Lviv have been left without electricity, which has caused concern among the population and medical workers. In this regard, public electric transport in the city has been completely halted, creating additional difficulties for residents. However, electricity supply to some critical infrastructure facilities in Lviv has already been restored, which should alleviate the situation.
Checks for compliance with the ban
As part of the implementation of the new Cabinet decision, checks will also be conducted to ensure compliance with the ban on the disconnection of medical facilities. This will contribute to ensuring stable electricity supply for hospitals, which is critically important in challenging times.
The ban on the disconnection of hospitals from electricity supply is a response to the current challenges associated with the energy crisis that has affected Ukraine. Given the importance of medical facilities in ensuring healthcare, this step may reduce risks for patients and medical personnel, especially during the winter months. Supporting stable electricity supply for hospitals also emphasizes the priority of healthcare in state policy.
