The government approved a new list of strategically important minerals
The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has updated the list of minerals and strategic components, as well as approved new rules for their provision for use. This was reported by Taras Melnychuk, the permanent representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada.
New lists and provision rules
According to the adopted decision, several important lists were approved in accordance with the Code of Ukraine on Subsoil. Among them are the list of strategically important minerals and components, the list of critically important minerals and components, and the list of subsoil areas of strategic and critical importance that will be provided for use through auctions and competitions.
The government canceled the order from February 14, 2023, No. 132, regarding the list of subsoil areas with strategically important minerals for sustainable economic development and national defense capability.
Updating the lists of strategically important minerals is an important step towards ensuring Ukraine's energy security and rational use of natural resources in a conflict environment. This will allow for transparent distribution of rights to use the most valuable deposits through competitive procedures.
