Laptops have long ceased to be something unusual. Electronics stores offer laptops with different operating systems, power, and speed. The price range allows you to buy laptops in Almaty for various purposes: work, games, leisure, and education. Even when buying a used laptop from a well-known brand in an online store or on OLX, one can expect good build quality; the main thing is to properly assess the condition of the device.
If we talk about laptops with Microsoft's operating system, there are often situations when a restart is required to continue working. If everything is working normally, it can be done the classic way – with a mouse or touchpad. But what to do if the laptop freezes and you can't use the cursor – we will explain next.
Method #1: via 'Start'
In case of slight laptop hang on Windows operating system, the 'Start' button, which is used to launch applications and shut down the computer, remains active. In such a case, you can easily restart both gaming computer and an ordinary laptop with average specifications. To do this, follow these steps:
- Press the Win key (marked with the Microsoft flag) or hold the Ctrl + Esc key combination.
- Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, move to the 'Shut Down' tab and select the 'Restart' sub-item.
- Press the Enter key.
After these actions, your laptop will restart.
Method #2: with Alt + F4 keys
If the laptop is frozen, you can restart it with the Alt + F4 key combination. This is usually used to close the active program that has stopped responding for some reason. You need to press the buttons until all applications are closed. When there are no open programs left, the system will open an interface that allows you to either shut down or restart the laptop. You will also need to select the action using the keyboard arrows.
Method #3: via the power button
This is a hard method that works almost flawlessly. However, it allows you not to restart but to completely shut down the laptop, as unlike a PC, there is no restart key. To turn off a frozen laptop, you just need to press and hold the power button and wait for the screen to turn off. Before turning it back on, it is advisable to wait a couple of minutes. It is also important to understand that this method of restarting can lead to data loss if there are open applications at the time of shutdown.
Method #4: using Ctrl + Alt + Delete
This key combination has been used for quite a long time and has an alternative name - 'the three-finger salute'. It's very simple:
- hold down three keys (Ctrl + Alt + Delete), after which the 'Task Manager' opens;
- go to the 'Processes' tab;
- select the applications that caused the laptop to hang;
- click the 'End Task' button.
If that didn't help, you need to use the Tab key to move to the power icon located in the lower right corner of the application and press Enter. After that, you will be prompted to shut down or restart the system.
