About the 'Does This Sound Familiar?' Campaign

The 'Does This Sound Familiar?' campaign focuses on helping people identify the warning signs of human trafficking and exploitation, while also providing vital information on how victims can seek assistance. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity, and the All-Ukrainian Coalition of NGOs Against Human Trafficking. The campaign coincides with the European Anti-Trafficking Day, observed annually on October 18.

Support Hotlines and Participating Organizations

As part of the campaign, several hotline numbers are promoted for confidential advice and support. The National Hotline for Combating Human Trafficking and Migrant Counseling operates at 527, available daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, offering free and confidential services. Additionally, the government’s 24/7 hotline addressing human trafficking and violence can be reached at 15-47, also providing free and confidential assistance.

Funded by the Swedish government, this campaign brings together a broad coalition of organizations, including:

  • The Embassy of Sweden in Kyiv
  • Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine
  • Coalition of NGOs Against Human Trafficking
  • National Social Services of Ukraine
  • National Police of Ukraine
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
  • State Border Guard Service of Ukraine
  • Numerous other civil society groups

A key part of the campaign is raising public awareness about common signs of trafficking and exploitation, such as confiscated documents and threats, unpaid labor, and forced sexual acts. Recognizing these indicators is crucial for preventing trafficking incidents and ensuring that victims receive the support they need.

The campaign aims not only to inform but also to actively engage communities in combating human trafficking, a pressing issue both within Ukraine and globally.

This effort represents a significant step forward in addressing human trafficking, which remains a serious challenge amid increasing migration flows and social pressures worldwide. By educating the public to spot trafficking signals, the campaign helps reduce exploitation risks and improves access to vital resources for survivors.
