Canine Therapy for Wounded Defenders: How the Labrador Umka Helps to Recover
As part of the project 'Psychological Practices Point', a canine therapy session took place for wounded defenders, during which participants had the opportunity to interact with the Labrador Umka. This event is part of a broader initiative called 'Mental Tutor', aimed at supporting the mental health of military personnel.
Canine therapy is included in the Nationwide Mental Health Program 'How Are You?', which was initiated by Olena Zelenska. The program aims to help defenders adapt after experiencing trauma and improve their psychological state through interaction with animals.
Effectiveness of Canine Therapy
Canine therapy is gaining popularity in Ukraine as an effective method for supporting mental health, especially among military personnel who have experienced stressful situations. Interaction with animals, particularly dogs, can significantly ease the recovery process, reducing levels of anxiety and depression.
This event is an important step in the systemic work on the mental health of defenders, which in turn contributes to their socialization and return to normal life.
