Worsening weather conditions in the Carpathians
In the Ukrainian Carpathians, rescuers have reported a deterioration in weather conditions ahead of the New Year and have urged tourists not to venture into high-altitudes. As of the morning of December 31, there is cloudiness and limited visibility on Mount Pip Ivan, while it is snowing in the mountains. A south-western wind is blowing at a speed of 15-17 m/s, and the temperature in the mountains has dropped to -17°C.
Opening of the ski season at the 'Bukovel' ski resort
At the same time, the ski season was opened at the 'Bukovel' ski resort, which caused large queues. As a result, about 80 people were stuck on the lift at Mount Zakhar Berkut. A total of 42 rescuers were involved in their rescue efforts.
Equally important is the information about the increase in rental prices in the Carpathians, which have risen by 67%. This came against the backdrop of a general increase in real estate prices in the Kyiv region by 5-17%. Rescuers urge tourists to be cautious and consider weather conditions when planning their trips to the mountains.
The situation with the weather conditions in the Carpathians is a worrying signal for tourists, especially during the New Year holiday period, when there is an increase in the number of visitors. It is important for tourists to be aware of the risks and to follow the recommendations of rescuers to avoid dangerous situations. The rising cost of housing may also impact tourists' choices of holiday destinations, hindering some from planning their trips to these areas.
