Karpaty Lviv Announces Departure of Pablo Alvarez

Lviv-based football club Karpaty has confirmed the departure of defensive midfielder Pablo Alvarez. The 28-year-old Spaniard, who previously played for Bulgaria's Cherno More, joined Karpaty in July 2024. He has now left the club as a free agent to sign with the Kazakh side Aktobe. This move is a significant loss for the Ukrainian Premier League side, as Alvarez was a consistent presence in their lineup.

During his tenure at Karpaty, Alvarez made 41 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists. As of this report, Karpaty hold 9th place in the 2025/26 UPL standings with 19 points from 16 matches. Their next fixture is an away match against Shakhtar on February 22, 2026. The team is managed by head coach Fran Fernández.

Potential Impact on Karpaty's Performance

Alvarez's exit could significantly affect Karpaty's midfield stability, as he was a key component of their setup. His departure may force the club to seek reinforcements in the transfer market. Currently positioned in the middle of the table, every match is crucial for Karpaty to improve their standing this season. The upcoming clash against Shakhtar will be a major test, highlighting the importance of this period for the team as they aim for a positive result.
