Garry Kasparov on the Situation in Crimea
Garry Kasparov, the prominent chess grandmaster-turned-political activist, has sounded the alarm over what he describes as critical logistical failures within Russia’s military forces stationed in Crimea. 'Ukraine’s victory in this war will not follow the 1945 model, but rather that of 1918—one built on the total exhaustion of the adversary’s resource base,' Kasparov stated.
Kasparov further asserts that strategic momentum now lies with Ukraine, and that Russia’s vast territorial expanse has begun to work against the Kremlin. 'The Kremlin has no effective antidote to this strategy,' he said. He emphasized that the question of Crimea’s liberation has definitively moved from a far-off possibility to an imminent reality.
'The Ukrainian flag waving over Sevastopol is the only way to permanently eliminate the imperial spirit and destroy the virus that is deeply embedded in the consciousness of the overwhelming majority,' Kasparov added.
