The story of a woman who changed her life thanks to 'Oselia Sadhora'
Kateryna Varadi is 53 years old. She works as a cleaner in a store and lives in the supported living house 'Oselia Sadhora'. She has spent almost her entire life in institutional facilities.
In her youth, Kateryna wanted to acquire a profession, but no one provided her with such an opportunity. She never imagined that one day she would have the chance to live in her own space and even work. However, almost a year ago, she ended up in a facility that offers supported living services.
'Oselia Sadhora' was opened in Chernivtsi in 2024 with funding from the regional budget and with the help of international partners. For this purpose, one of the buildings of the regional center for social and psychological assistance was completely renovated.
Kateryna shares that she really enjoys living in 'Oselia Sadhora'. She also helps other girls get used to life outside the boarding school. She shows by her example that everything is possible.
The initiative was implemented by the NGO 'Social Synergy' in partnership with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, within the framework of the flagship partnership between the EU and UNDP.
This narrative tells the story of an elderly woman who changed her life thanks to the opportunity to live and work in 'Oselia Sadhora'. This supported living facility provides people with a chance for independence and their own space after many years spent in institutional conditions. Kateryna's story is an example that even in old age, new opportunities can be found and life can start anew.
