Government Meeting Tackles Fuel Market Stability in Kazakhstan
Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov convened a high-level meeting to address the domestic fuel market and combat illegal fuel exports. During the session, Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov reported that the nation's oil refineries are operating without disruption. Interior Minister Erzhan Sadenov highlighted significant progress in cracking down on illicit fuel shipments, noting that authorities have thwarted 593 smuggling attempts since the start of the year, involving over 40,000 liters of fuel.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 61 smuggling attempts were recorded in just the past 48 hours, involving more than 3 tons of fuel. As part of enhanced oversight, inspectors examined 18 specialized vehicles used to transport petroleum products. Additionally, samples were taken from a tanker truck carrying 34 tons of fuel for laboratory analysis.

- Rustam Akhmetov, First Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition,
- Kairat Bizhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Agency.
All attendees stressed the need for stricter oversight of gas stations and mini-refineries. Currently, authorities are scrutinizing the operations of 62 gas stations and 22 mini-refineries.
Bektenov emphasized that ensuring the stability of the domestic fuel market is a top government priority. He pointed out that Kazakhstan's refineries continue to operate as planned, and the total reserves of gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel fully meet domestic demand. As a result, the market remains stable.
