In Kyiv, due to planned and emergency power outages, there may be changes to the schedule of urban electric transport. Temporary adjustments concern trams, trolleybuses and the funicular, the Kyiv City State Administration reported.

How transport operates during power outages

The movement of urban electric transport is adjusted according to the disconnection schedules provided by energy companies. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, specialists from the KP «Kyivpastrans» cooperate with energy workers to ensure safe movement around the city even in conditions of unstable power supply.

The city authorities ask residents of the capital to check current information about routes in advance and plan their trips taking into account possible interruptions.

Where changes may occur

According to transport operators, disruptions may affect:

  • tram routes that depend on substations in different areas of the city;

  • trolleybuses running along central highways;

  • Kyiv funicular, whose operation may temporarily stop during outages.

If necessary, «Kyivpastrans» launches reserve bus routes to ensure passengers can reach their destination even during power outages.

Due to electricity shortages in the autumn-winter period, Ukraine is again facing forced restrictions on consumption. In Kyiv, such measures are being taken to stabilize the energy system after another Russian attack on infrastructure. The city authorities emphasize that all services are operating in an enhanced mode to minimize inconvenience for residents.
