Cyberpolice warns: scammers demand to confirm age for pension through messengers

Кіберполіція нагадує: шахраї вимагають перевірити вік для отримання пенсії через месенджери.

Warning from the Cyberpolice of Ukraine

The Cyberpolice of Ukraine warns about a new fraud scheme in which scammers attempt to deceive Ukrainian pensioners through messengers, demanding to confirm their age to maintain their pension. The criminals send messages requesting to 'confirm age', which is part of a phishing trap aimed at obtaining personal data.

The scammers ask pensioners to follow a provided link and fill out a form supposedly necessary to confirm their age. Using the obtained data, the criminals can hack social media accounts and steal funds. The Cyberpolice emphasizes that the procedure for appointing or terminating pension payments is governed solely by the laws of Ukraine, as well as decisions from the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers.

Recommendations from the Cyberpolice

In this regard, the Cyberpolice advises citizens to be cautious. Do not follow dubious links, never enter personal data on suspicious websites, and immediately delete such messages. It is also important to check information about payments only on the official resources of the Pension Fund of Ukraine to avoid fraud.

This situation highlights the importance of caution among vulnerable groups of the population, such as pensioners, who may be less informed about digital threats. Given the ongoing increase in cases of internet fraud, it is important for all citizens, regardless of age, to be informed about methods to protect their personal data and financial information.
