Kyiv: due to frost and pipe break in the building, the temperature dropped to +7.5°C

Київ: через мороз та прорив труби в будівлі температура впала до +7.5°C

Accident in Shevchenkivskyi District of Kyiv

Kyiv, Shevchenkivskyi District. Due to a pipe break in one of the buildings, the temperature in the apartments dropped to +7.5°C. The accident occurred after a frosty weekend when the air temperature dropped to -17°C. The malfunction happened due to undrained water, which led to a lack of heating throughout the building.

The situation is complicated due to the insufficient response of utility services. Residents of the building complain that no one has appeared to fix the problem.

“No one is at work,” said a housing office engineer.
The plumber, for his part, explained that
“I had a legitimate day off.”

Context of the Events

These events occurred against the backdrop of massive shelling of Kyiv on the night of January 9, when 36 rockets and nearly 250 drones were launched. The heating situation in the building highlights the relevance of ensuring warmth in the winter period, especially under low temperature conditions.

This case illustrates not only technical problems with infrastructure but also the challenges faced by utility services in emergency situations. The lack of prompt response to such accidents can lead to serious consequences for residents who are already suffering from the cold. In the context of war and shelling, ensuring normal living conditions becomes an even more critically important task for local authorities and utility services.
