Kyiv Digital App Now Alerts Parents to Their Child's Public Transport Journeys

Новий застосунок у Києві інформує батьків про поїздки їхніх дітей у громадському транспорті.

New Features in the Kyiv Digital App

The Kyiv Digital app has introduced a new notification feature for parents, enabling them to monitor their child's use of a student travel pass on public transport. This function provides details on the location and time of a child's journey based on data from validating the student pass. Crucially, the feature only operates with the child's consent, adding a layer of control and safety for families.

Following each validation of the student pass, parents will receive a notification containing the time and route number. In addition to these alerts, the app now includes a trip history section where this information can also be reviewed. The updated version of the application is already available for download in the App Store and Google Play. This update is part of a broader digital transformation of city services in Ukraine's capital.

Concessional Travel Card

Furthermore, the Kyiv Digital app now features a concessional transport card. This allows passengers entitled to free travel, such as individuals with group I–II disabilities and veterans, to use public transport services without needing a physical 'Kyivan Resident' card. The digital card is valid on both ground transport and the metro.

To set up the new notification service, parents need to access their child's profile within the 'Transport Card' section of the app. In the student pass settings, they must enter a parent's phone number in the 'Permission to view trips' field. After confirmation, the data automatically syncs to the parent's smartphone, making the process of receiving information convenient and swift.

The introduction of these new functions in the Kyiv Digital app enhances child safety while using public transport and provides parents with the ability to monitor their journeys.

The implementation of the concessional travel card also demonstrates attention to the needs of vulnerable population groups, ensuring their access to transport services without additional hurdles. These innovations are likely to positively impact the quality of life for Kyiv residents and mitigate risks associated with children's safety in the city.
