Kyiv records sharp rise in flu and ARVI cases: data from the second week of 2026
Kyiv has recorded a sharp increase in flu, ARVI, and Covid-19 cases in the second week of 2026. During this period, 9,752 new cases of these diseases were registered, which is 27.9% more than the previous week. The incidence rate was 330.3, which is 39.8% lower than the average intensity level.
Among all patients, 4,636 are children (47.5% of the total), while 5,116 are adults. Among schoolchildren, 2,378 cases of illness were registered. Regarding Covid-19, 46 people fell ill, including one child under 17 years old. A total of 254 people with flu and ARVI required hospitalization, including 152 children. In the intensive care units, five adults suffering from Covid-19 were admitted, however, no fatal cases from Covid-19 complications were reported.
Illness status and preventive measures
In Ukraine, 38 cases of the subvariant Stratus (XFG) and one case of the subvariant Nimbus (NB.1.8.1) have also been officially confirmed. This data indicates the need to adhere to preventive measures and pay attention to health, especially during epidemics.
