EU Generator Delivery Arrives in Kyiv
Kyiv has received a crucial shipment of 500 generators from the European Union, a move that will significantly aid the restoration of the capital's heating supply. This assistance comes after a February 12th attack left approximately 500 apartment buildings without heat. Utility crews have already managed to restore heating to 2,100 of the 2,600 buildings impacted by the incident.
The technical aid includes 323 generators that have already arrived in the capital, bringing the total number of autonomous power units provided by the EU to 500. The delivery consists of:
- 438 units with a capacity of 20 kW;
- 62 units with a capacity of 22 kW.
An initial batch of 177 devices arrived first, with the new shipment primarily intended to power individual heating points in residential buildings. This support is vital for a city facing repeated attacks on its critical infrastructure.
Support for Municipal Services
Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that municipal crews are continuing to work around the clock to restore heat to the remaining high-rise buildings. The EU's aid represents a critical step in ensuring warmth for Kyiv's residents during a difficult winter period.
