New Minibuses for Kyiv's Social Service Center
With financial backing from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Kyiv's City Territorial Center for Social Services has received three new specialized minibuses. This international aid, facilitated through partnerships with cities like Leipzig, Berlin, and the Charlottenburg district, will enable daily transportation for an additional 40 to 50 children with disabilities. This support is part of a broader European effort to assist Ukraine's civilian infrastructure during a time of war.
In the first three months of this year alone, the center's social transport fleet completed nearly 10,000 trips. Currently, over 1,500 city residents require regular transportation assistance from the service. The primary reasons for using this social transport include:
- medical appointments,
- travel to educational institutions,
- and attending rehabilitation sessions.
Social Taxi Service
A separate Social Taxi program is also operational in the region, serving 25 territorial communities. This service is utilized approximately 700 times each month, primarily by people with disabilities and other groups with limited mobility. Destinations for the Social Taxi include medical, social, administrative, and other institutions, ensuring access to essential services for all who need them.
The arrival of these new minibuses marks a significant advancement for Kyiv's social infrastructure, directly improving service accessibility for children with disabilities and other vulnerable residents. This collaboration with international partners, particularly Germany, underscores the critical role of global support in strengthening Ukraine's social service systems during a period of immense challenge.
