Humanitarian Aid from France Arrives in Kyiv
Kyiv has received a shipment of 30 electrical generators from France, with a combined capacity of 3.4 MW. This aid, provided by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Crisis and Support Center via the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, will be allocated to the municipal utility company 'Kyivteploenergo'. This support is part of a broader international effort to help Ukraine secure its essential services against infrastructure attacks.
Reinforcing Critical City Services
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that this equipment will enhance the resilience of the city's critical infrastructure, social service facilities, and residential buildings. The generators are intended to ensure a stable heating supply for the capital, particularly in the face of potential energy shortages this winter.
This French delivery follows earlier humanitarian support from Poland, which included 90 generators. The first Polish batch of 59 units arrived late last week, with a second shipment of 31 delivered subsequently. Most of the Polish-supplied units are diesel generators of varying capacities, many of which have already been distributed across the city's districts to support heating systems.
Securing these power generators is a crucial step for Kyiv amid ongoing energy instability. The assistance from France, along with the prior aid from Poland, demonstrates strong international solidarity and a readiness to support Ukraine in critical times. This support not only strengthens the city's infrastructure but also helps ensure the comfort and safety of its residents during a challenging period.
