Kyiv explains the drainage of water from pipes: a necessary procedure during the absence of heating

Київ роз'яснює, чому відбувається скидання води з труб: важливий захід у період відсутності опалення.

Water Drainage in the Absence of Heating Supply

The Kyiv City State Administration emphasizes the necessity of draining water from building systems in the absence of heating supply. This procedure is mandatory during frosts, as it helps prevent the freezing of pipelines. It is noted that water drainage is a standard technical procedure that must be carried out when water circulation stops at temperatures below 0 °C.

According to established regulations, the decision to drain water is made by the person responsible for the technical condition of the networks. These rules were approved by an order of the Ministry of Fuel and Energy back in 2007. Water drainage is an important element of managing thermal installations and networks, which allows avoiding serious infrastructure problems in the winter period.

Consequences of Shelling and Recommendations from the City Authorities

Recall that on January 9, Kyiv suffered a massive shelling, during which the enemy fired 36 missiles and nearly 250 drones. This shelling led to significant destruction, resulting in part of the buildings being left without electricity and heating supply. In connection with these events, the city authorities urge residents to refrain from loud statements with shocking headlines and not to spread misinformation.

Management of homeowners' associations (HOs), residential building cooperatives (RBCs), and service organizations are given recommendations on actions in such situations:

  • To adhere to the rules of technical operation of thermal installations and networks.
  • To ensure timely drainage of water from building systems.

In conditions of increasing threat associated with the lack of heating supply due to shelling, the importance of timely water drainage becomes even more relevant. This not only helps preserve infrastructure but also ensures the comfort of residents during winter cold. The city authorities call for responsibility and adherence to established rules, which will contribute to stability in the housing sector during a difficult period.
