Kyiv against ice: how 1500 workers and hundreds of machines prepare the city for the New Year
Kyiv's utility services are operating in enhanced mode due to freezing weather and light snow, and are providing advice for drivers and pedestrians. In light of the weather forecast for December 31, where temperatures are expected to be 4–6 degrees below zero and light snow in some areas, it is important to ensure safety on the roads and sidewalks.
On the city's highways, 245 units of special equipment from 'Kyivavtodor' are working to treat the roads. To clear the sidewalks, 450 workers in 63 crews are working manually. In parks and squares, more than 700 'green builders' and 66 units of equipment are responsible for safety. Additionally, the territories adjacent to buildings are cleared by employees of managing companies.
The main danger for drivers and pedestrians remains ice, which can occur due to frost and snowfall. City services urge citizens to be cautious, follow traffic rules, and not forget about safety while moving around the city.
