'Earth as Memory Keeper' Audio Installation

An audio installation titled 'Earth as Memory Keeper,' focusing on humanitarian demining, has opened in Kyiv. The project is a collaborative effort involving UNDP Ukraine, Ukraine's Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, Demine Ukraine, and the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre.

About the Project

The installation features ten transparent cylinders filled with soil collected from regions impacted by the war. Funding was provided by the Ukraine Community Recovery Fund. This initiative aims to draw attention to the critical issue of landmine clearance and to support the recovery of affected areas.

The opening of this installation underscores the vital importance of humanitarian demining in Ukraine, where vast areas remain hazardous due to unexploded ordnance. The project not only raises public awareness of this ongoing danger but also highlights the combined efforts of local and international organizations in rehabilitating war-torn regions. Such initiatives are crucial for restoring safety and normalcy to communities devastated by conflict, a process that will take years to complete.
