Kyiv Works to Restore Heating After Attack, 737 Buildings Still Without Heat

Київ відновлює теплопостачання після обстрілів, 737 споруд залишаються без тепла.

Repairing Kyiv's Critical Infrastructure

Kyiv is continuing efforts to repair critical infrastructure damaged in an attack on January 24, 2026. As of today, 737 residential buildings in the capital remain without heating. The vast majority of these are located in the Desnianskyi district, specifically in the Troieshchyna neighborhood. This area became the epicenter of a major utility crisis, with approximately 600 apartment buildings losing electricity, water, and heating.

The attack disabled the TEC-6 thermal power plant, which led to the heating shutdown in Troieshchyna. Municipal and energy workers are now on round-the-clock shifts to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore heat to residents' homes. The city authorities have mobilized over a thousand municipal workers and specialists from other cities to assist in the recovery. Support crews have arrived from:

  • Lviv
  • Poltava
  • Chernihiv
  • Vinnytsia
  • Zhytomyr
  • Mykolaiv
  • Odesa
  • Rivne
  • Kropyvnytskyi
  • Kyiv Oblast
  • and other settlements

“Currently, 737 residential buildings in the capital are without heat. The overwhelming majority are in Troieshchyna, with a few others in several different districts. Municipal and energy workers are repairing the critical infrastructure damaged by the enemy around the clock to restore heat to Kyiv homes.”

Vitali Klitschko

Vitali Klitschko also expressed gratitude to all those supporting Kyiv in this difficult situation, stating: “Kyiv specialists are being assisted by crews from Lviv, Poltava, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Rivne, Kropyvnytskyi, Kyiv Oblast, and some other cities, as well as teams from 'Ukrzaliznytsia'.”

The capital's authorities continue to deploy additional 24-hour heating shelters to support residents who have been left without heat and other utilities. These attacks on civilian infrastructure are a hallmark of the ongoing conflict, creating severe humanitarian challenges during the winter months.

The Significance of Infrastructure Recovery

Restoring Kyiv's critical infrastructure in the wake of destructive attacks is a vital step to ensure normal living conditions for its residents. The heating supply problem, which has affected a significant part of the capital, demands a swift and coordinated response from utility services. This effort highlights the importance of cooperation between different cities and organizations. The involvement of specialists from other regions demonstrates the unity and solidarity of Ukrainians during difficult times, as well as a readiness to support one another in moments of crisis.
