Health officials in Kyiv have reported a significant rise in respiratory infections over the past week. The Kyiv City Center for Disease Control and Prevention released data showing 8,660 new cases of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). Notably, children account for more than 55% of all new patients, highlighting a concerning trend as the school year continues.
The weekly incidence rate stands at 293.3 per 100,000 people, which remains 46.6% below the established epidemic threshold. Of the total cases, 4,787 are children, with 2,584 of them being school-aged. Adults accounted for 3,873 of the registered illnesses. In a separate count, four new COVID-19 cases were confirmed among adults, with that incidence rate also sitting 61.5% below its epidemic threshold. Epidemiologists are urging residents to take preventive measures, avoid crowds, and consult a doctor at the first sign of illness.
“Special attention should be paid to the health of children attending educational institutions,” experts emphasized.
