Steps Towards Energy Independence of Kyiv Schools
Kyiv is taking a step towards energy independence for its schools by providing them with generators and installing solar panels. As part of this project, 50% of the capital's schools will receive generators, which will enhance their energy independence.
Solar Panels and Their Importance
In addition, solar panels are planned to be installed in 40 schools in Kyiv, which will be equipped with energy storage systems. This will not only ensure energy independence for educational institutions but also the possibility of selling excess electricity back to the grid.
As noted by Lyudmila Kovalevska, the funds obtained from the sale of electricity will be directed towards purchasing equipment for other educational institutions in the city.
For the implementation of these initiatives, 250 million hryvnias have been allocated from the city budget. This project aims not only to reduce electricity costs but also to ensure greater stability in the energy supply for Kyiv schools.
This project could significantly impact the energy security of educational institutions in Kyiv, especially in conditions of unstable electricity supply. The energy independence of schools can also serve as an example for other cities in Ukraine looking for ways to optimize energy resource costs and ensure continuous education processes.
