New Kindergarten Enrollment System to Launch in Kyiv This May

Нова система прийому дітей до садочків стартує в Києві вже в травні.

City Digital Services Platform Gets a Major Upgrade

Kyiv is rolling out an updated version of its municipal digital services platform, which will include a brand-new system for enrolling children in preschool institutions starting this May. This represents a key change as part of a broader overhaul aimed at consolidating all city services onto a single, unified portal. The announcement was reported by 'Glavkom', citing the director of the municipal enterprise 'Main Information and Computing Center' (GIOС), Kostiantyn Vorobiov, who shared the details during a broadcast on the 'Kyiv24' TV channel.

Core Concept Behind the Update

The central idea of the update is to create one go-to portal for all educational services, covering everything from first-grade admissions to kindergarten registration. As Vorobiov explained:

'the 'Kyiv Digital' mobile app is designed for services that residents need on a daily basis, while the services portal handles more complex operations that people use less frequently.' Kostiantyn Vorobiov

This approach aims to simplify access to municipal services and boost their overall efficiency.

Beyond the platform update, the Cabinet of Ministers has also approved changes to the rules for tracking preschool and school-age children. A notable new feature is the automatic notification of juvenile police and child welfare services about children who are not attending school. The regulations have become stricter for those who:

  • frequently keep their child at home;
  • schedule vacations during the school year;
  • have extended illnesses;
  • attend a foreign school;
  • fail to maintain contact with their Ukrainian school.

The city's digital services platform upgrade is designed not only to make educational services more accessible but also to create a better tracking system for children, which could have a positive impact on their education and safety. The introduction of automatic alerts about children missing school may be an important step toward improving attendance monitoring, potentially reducing the number of children who fall through the cracks. Such digitalization efforts also align with global trends in adopting modern technologies for public administration.
