Kyiv launches powerful cogeneration plants: how this will change the city's energy supply

Київ впроваджує сучасні теплоелектричні станції: нові можливості для енергозабезпечення міста.

Installation of cogeneration plants in Kyiv

The installation of five cogeneration plants with a total capacity of 66 megawatts has been completed in Kyiv. Two of the plants are already operational, while three are in the commissioning stage. This project involves the launch of seven plants, with a total cost of 12 billion hryvnias. Investments in this infrastructure aim to improve the city's energy supply and increase energy efficiency.

Diesel power station

In addition, the city authorities have also ordered a diesel power station with a capacity of 20 megawatts. This decision was made to diversify energy sources, which is an important step to ensure stability in energy supply in the event of potential crisis situations. The launch of the diesel power station is planned for March.

In our opinion, differentiation is needed.

Petro Panteleev, representative of the city authorities

The completion of the installation of cogeneration plants and the order for the diesel power station indicate the local authorities' focus on improving the energy infrastructure in conditions of instability. The project could significantly affect Kyiv's energy independence, especially in the context of the challenges facing the country in the energy supply sphere. Investments in new technologies and the diversification of energy sources are key aspects to ensure stable and reliable electricity supply for the residents of the capital.
