Kyiv Reduces Street Lighting Brightness: New Savings Mode

In Kyiv, street lighting has been switched to a regulated savings mode, which includes a reduction in light brightness. The Kyiv City State Administration announced new measures aimed at optimizing electricity consumption in the capital.

LED lights now operate at 30% of their maximum brightness until curfew. After that, the brightness intensity decreases to 20%. This decision aims to reduce electricity costs, as street lighting consumes less than 1% of the total electricity volume in the capital. The lighting receives electricity from the supplier DTEK, which ensures its operation.

Changes in Lighting Mode

Changes in the lighting mode are part of broader energy-saving measures in the face of modern challenges. The Kyiv authorities hope that the new mode will not only reduce costs but also alleviate the load on the electrical network.

The reduction in street lighting brightness in Kyiv occurs against the backdrop of global challenges related to energy security and the economic situation. These measures may serve as an example for other cities also seeking ways to optimize electricity consumption. In the context of the energy crisis, both savings and ensuring the stability of electricity supply are crucial, making such initiatives even more relevant.
