Changes in Ticket Purchase for the Kyiv Train
Starting January 1, 2024, the option to purchase tickets on the Kyiv Ring Train will be canceled. Passengers will now be required to buy tickets in advance and go through control at the stations. This change is being implemented as part of a new payment system that brings Kyiv's transport closer to the S-Bahn model.
The Kyiv train, which was relaunched as part of the Kyiv City Express project on March 21, 2022, has become the only reliable connection between the left and right banks of the Dnipro during the defense of the capital. With updated inclusive trains, it provides convenient and accessible transport for all categories of passengers.
Ways to Purchase Tickets
To purchase tickets, passengers can use various methods:
- Chatbots
- Ukrainian Railways app
- Kyiv Digital app
- Self-service terminals
- Contactless payment through validators
- Cash at stationary ticket offices of stations
These changes are aimed at increasing convenience and safety in transportation in the capital.
The cancellation of the option to purchase tickets in the cars may significantly change passengers' habits, as they will need to plan their trips in advance. It may also reduce delays and improve transportation control. The introduction of the new payment system, reminiscent of S-Bahn, indicates Kyiv's desire to modernize its transport infrastructure and bring it closer to European standards.
