Kyiv Metro Announces New Regulations for Transporting Plants

Київський метрополітен вводить нові правила щодо перевезення рослин.

Kyiv Metro Introduces Spring Plant Transport Rules

With the arrival of spring, the Kyiv Metro has published new regulations governing the transport of plants on its network. These rules specify permissible plant dimensions, payment conditions, and packaging requirements. The need for such guidelines has grown as more passengers carry young trees, shrubs, and other greenery on public transport, particularly from the 'Lisova' station.

According to the new policy, plants up to 150 cm in height can be transported free of charge. For plants measuring between 150 cm and 220 cm, a single ticket costing 8 UAH must be purchased. The transport of any plant exceeding 220 cm in height is strictly prohibited within the capital's metro system.

Mandatory Plant Packaging Standards

In addition to size restrictions, specific packaging standards are now in effect. Plants must be wrapped in protective polyethylene or stretch film. For transporting root systems, oversized cardboard boxes, special covers, or nets should be used. Furthermore, all plants must be securely fastened with sturdy rope or tape to ensure safe transit throughout the metro.

The Kyiv City Council's Department of Transport Infrastructure reports that the actual cost of a metro ride per passenger is 64 UAH. Awareness of these new plant transport rules among passengers is expected to prevent misunderstandings and ensure comfort for all users of the capital's subway. These regulations reflect a broader trend of urban gardening gaining popularity in Ukrainian cities during the spring season.

The introduction of these new plant transport rules corresponds to the growing popularity of gardening among city residents in spring, a trend observed across Ukraine.

By implementing these measures, the capital's metro system is adapting to passenger needs while maintaining safety and comfort in public transport. This initiative also underscores the importance of clear communication between the carrier and its users to avoid confusion and enhance service quality.

As the Kyiv Metro adapts to the rising trend of urban gardening, it’s essential for passengers to stay informed about the updated rules regarding free transport options and restricted items. Understanding these regulations will help ensure a smooth journey for all, particularly for those carrying plants during this vibrant season.
