Kyiv metro increases interval to 12 minutes due to energy crisis

У Київському метрополітені подовжили час очікування до 12 хвилин через енергетичну кризу.

The situation in Kyiv metro

Kyiv metro, due to the difficult energy situation caused by Russian shelling, is increasing the train interval to 10-12 minutes on all three lines. This decision was the result of a massive strike that occurred on the night of January 9, leading to serious power supply problems in the city.

As a result of the shelling, many critical infrastructure facilities were affected, which caused a lack of heating in 6 thousand apartment buildings. In light of these events, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, appealed to the residents of the capital with a request to leave the city, emphasizing the critical state of the infrastructure.

Measures regarding the energy crisis

According to a statement from the Kyiv City State Administration, the waiting time for a train on all three lines of the metro will now be 10-12 minutes. These measures are aimed at ensuring safety and stability amidst the energy crisis that has affected not only Kyiv but also other regions of Ukraine.

This situation highlights the serious consequences of military actions for the everyday life of the capital's residents and their safety. The increase in train intervals in the metro and calls to leave the city indicate that Ukraine's energy infrastructure remains under threat, which could impact economic activity and the overall standard of living in the region. The authorities continue to take steps to ensure stability, but the need to restore critical infrastructure remains urgent.
