Kyiv Schools Set May 29 as Final Day of Academic Year

Уроки в київських школах завершаться 29 травня.

Academic Year Wrap-Up in Kyiv Schools

The 2025–2026 school year in Kyiv will officially end on May 29, 2026. Following that date, schools will transition to a June schedule featuring supplementary classes and student support programs designed to ensure proper readiness for the next academic term.

Significant changes are also coming for 11th-grade students, whose learning format will shift in May. Document distribution for graduates is planned for June:

  • Primary education certificates will be issued from June 1 to June 5,
  • Basic secondary education certificates from June 8 to June 12,
  • Complete general secondary education certificates from June 19 to June 26.

National Multi-Subject Test and Additional Programs

A key milestone for graduating students is the 2026 National Multi-Subject Test (NMT). Participants in the main NMT-2026 sessions can download their invitations no later than ten calendar days before the test date. These invitations will be available for download until May 10. This year, over 355,000 participants have registered for the main NMT session—43,000 more than last year.

In June, the supplementary programs will include remedial classes, psychological support initiatives, practical training in Ukraine's Defense curriculum, workshops in tactical medicine, mine safety, civil protection, digital literacy sessions, language clubs, summer educational studios, creative masterclasses, and STEM activities. These efforts aim to foster comprehensive student development and provide crucial support during challenging times.

Ending the academic year and rolling out these supplementary programs are vital steps in maintaining educational quality and supporting students amid an unstable situation.

The adoption of new learning formats and the focus on psychological support and practical skills reflect the education system's commitment to adapting to modern challenges and equipping students with the knowledge and abilities needed for a successful future.

As schools in Kyiv prepare for the end of the academic year, understanding the recommended holiday schedule for the upcoming term is crucial for students and parents alike. This schedule will help families plan effectively for the summer months, ensuring that students can take full advantage of the supplementary programs offered in June.
