Kyiv Appeal Court has once again halted its operations: another anonymous bomb threat

Київський апеляційний суд знову призупинив роботу через анонімне повідомлення про вибухівку.

Halting of Kyiv Appeal Court due to bomb threat

The Kyiv Appeal Court temporarily suspended its operations due to a bomb threat received on January 9, 2026. This is not the first time the court has stopped its activities due to such threats. Earlier, on November 26, 2025, the court was also forced to suspend its work because of a similar message.

In November 2025, during the previous pause, the Kyiv Appeal Court was supposed to review an appeal from National Anti-Corruption Bureau detective Ruslan Magamedrasulov. These incidents occur against the backdrop of increasing cases of fake bomb threats in Ukraine. In January 2025, law enforcement recorded 697 reports of fake bomb threats affecting more than 13 thousand educational institutions.

Statistics on fake bomb threat cases

In 2024, there were 4435 false reports of bomb threats concerning 61,216 educational institutions, and in January 2024, 6593 'bombing' cases were recorded. Although the number of such cases decreased by 72.9% during other periods of the year, the threat of fake bomb threats remains an ongoing problem for law enforcement and society.

The rise in cases of fake bomb threats threatens not only the operations of judicial institutions but also the overall safety in the country. Frequent reports of bomb threats cause panic among the population and lead to significant expenditures of law enforcement resources. This situation underscores the need to strengthen measures to combat fake threats to ensure stability and peace in society.
