Bail Set for Nestor Shufrych
A Kyiv appellate court has ordered an alternative preventive measure for MP Nestor Shufrych, who is suspected of state treason, setting bail at 33 million 280 thousand hryvnias. This ruling aims to facilitate the resolution of his case at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). Shufrych has now been held in a Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detention facility for over two years. A further suspicion was announced in February 2024, alleging he financed the Russian National Guard in Crimea, where a company under his control paid half a million Russian rubles for security services. Shufrych entered the SBU pre-trial detention center on September 15, 2023, where he remains.
