Kyivstar Alters Mobile Number Validity Terms

Mobile operator Kyivstar has announced revised validity terms for its prepaid subscribers, set to take effect on February 6, 2026. The total validity period for a number will be 365 days, now divided into two distinct phases: a 274-day active period followed by a 91-day suspended state.

Stages of the Number Validity Period

The first phase, lasting 274 days, commences from the date of the last top-up or tariff payment. During this time, subscribers will retain full access to all operator services. Upon completion of this active phase, the number enters the second stage—a 91-day suspended state. In this period, users can only top up their account and make calls to customer service numbers.

To reactivate a number after the suspended state concludes, a subscriber must either make a single top-up payment of at least 30 Ukrainian hryvnias, pay for a core service package covering 4 weeks or one month, or select a daily package. These changes are designed to optimize service conditions for Kyivstar's customer base. For context, such policy shifts are common globally as telecoms adjust to evolving network usage and customer behavior.

The new validity terms for prepaid subscribers may significantly impact users accustomed to the previous service conditions. The update introduces clearer regulation of number activity, which could help the operator manage resources more efficiently and maintain service quality. Subscribers should pay close attention to their number's validity timeline to avoid unexpected loss of service access. These revisions also align with a broader industry trend where mobile operators optimize tariff structures and services in response to market competition.
