Kyiv police have charged the division chief of KP 'Kyivenergo' with negligence that led to a 16-year-old girl falling into a pit of boiling water. The incident occurred on January 2 on Valerii Lobanovskyi Avenue, where a hole filled with hot water formed due to a thermal pipe rupture. The injured girl has suffered thermal burns over 73% of her body and is currently in a coma at a clinic in Germany.

Additionally, as a result of the incident, two other pedestrians were injured: a 12-year-old girl and a 53-year-old woman, both of whom also suffered burns. The division chief is suspected of violating safety rules during work involving increased danger. The detainee has been notified of the charges under part 2 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which regulates issues of negligence in work.

Public Reaction and Consequences

The sanction of this article provides for a punishment of up to eight years of imprisonment. The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is currently being resolved.
