Legendary San Siro to be demolished: a new stadium will be built in its place

Легендарний Сан Сіро піде в минуле: на його місці з'явиться новий стадіон.

The legendary Milan Stadium Giuseppe Meazza, more commonly known as San Siro, is set to be demolished as the city's football clubs 'Milan' and 'Inter' have officially acquired its ownership from the municipality. This is reported by 'Glavcom'.

The clubs paid the local authorities 197 million euros for the stadium and surrounding areas. Instead of the old one, a completely new complex is planned to be built, which will accommodate 71,500 spectators and become an architectural symbol of Milan. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 and be completed by 2031, in order to use the stadium during the 2032 UEFA European Championship.

Andriy Shevchenko emphasized that this is an important step for the future of Milan and Italian football as a whole.

A new arena for financial inflow

The main goal is to increase financial income. The new complex will operate as a city commercial and entertainment center, bringing in up to 130 million euros from ticket sales and additional profit from tourism, office rentals, and other events. There are also plans to sell the naming rights of the arena, which could secure each club up to 25 million euros.

In the qualifying matches for the World Cup, Ukraine achieved a victory over Azerbaijan, drew with them, and lost to France. Ukrainian fans showed support for the national team during the game against France with a banner reading 'Fortress of Europe'.
