As part of this presidency, discussions are ongoing regarding the opening of negotiation clusters for Ukraine's integration into the European community.

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides emphasized the importance of active support for Ukraine. In the context of discussions, the necessity of strengthening sanctions against Russia was also noted, which is a crucial step in the European security policy framework. Additionally, there is emphasis on enhancing aerial defense and supplying drones, which are critical for ensuring the security of the region.

This initiative underscores Cyprus's commitment to active participation in European affairs concerning defense and stability in the region. Continuing support for Ukraine and strengthening sanctions against Russia are becoming key topics on Cyprus's agenda during its presidency of the EU Council.

“Thank you to Cyprus and Mr. President for the support,” said the author.

Cyprus's presidency in the EU Council is an important milestone in the development of European security policy, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine.
