Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha held telephone negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos. The discussions took place amid the beginning of Cyprus's presidency in the Council of the European Union. The main topics of the negotiations included:

  • Ukraine's accession to the EU;
  • defense cooperation issues;
  • energy resilience.

Andrii Sybiha emphasized the importance of advancing Ukraine's accession to the EU and deepening bilateral cooperation. He noted that strengthening defense cooperation and enhancing Ukraine's energy resilience are priority areas. The Minister also expressed gratitude to Cyprus for confirming that support for Ukraine will be among the key priorities during its presidency in the EU.

These negotiations are taking place against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions in Europe and Ukraine's increased efforts to integrate into European structures. Cyprus's presidency in the EU is an important moment not only for the country itself but also for Ukraine, as it provides an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic ties and gain additional support on the path to European integration. Issues of defense cooperation and energy security remain key to stability in the region, especially in the face of the challenges Ukraine is facing.
