The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the statement of U.S. President Donald Trump, who urged Beijing to stop purchasing Russian oil. The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, emphasized that cooperation between China and Russia in the energy sector is legal and aligns with international standards.

According to Lin Jian, the actions of the United States are 'typical unilateral bullying and economic coercion' that violate global economic rules and pose a threat to the stability of global supply chains.

The diplomat also stressed that China opposes U.S. attempts to shift responsibility to Beijing on these issues. At the same time, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that if the legitimate interests of China are harmed, Beijing will take countermeasures to protect its sovereignty and security.

China's Position on the Conflict in Ukraine

The spokesperson also noted that China's position on the conflict in Ukraine remains 'objective, fair, and honest.' This statement was made in the context of Trump's statement about the need to stop Chinese purchases of Russian oil, which he made after meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

China responded to Trump's statement, highlighting the legality of cooperation with Russia in the energy sector and reaffirming its objective position on the conflict in Ukraine. China refused to comply with U.S. demands and underscored its right to independent decisions in foreign policy.
