China's demands regarding Nicolas Maduro

China demands the USA to release Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, claiming violations of international law. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed serious concern over the forced detention and deportation of President Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who were apprehended during an operation conducted by US intelligence and military in Caracas on January 3.

It is noted that Maduro and his wife were taken to US territory. The New York Prosecutor's Office has charged Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro with drug terrorism, cocaine trafficking, and illegal arms trade. In response to these events, China has called on the USA to ensure the personal safety of Maduro and his wife, as well as to release them immediately.

The Situation in Venezuela

US President Donald Trump announced the management of Venezuela in a transitional period. The Vice President of Venezuela is Delcy Rodríguez. This situation has provoked outrage from China, which emphasizes the importance of adhering to international law in relations between states.

The detention of Nicolas Maduro and his wife has marked a new stage in the tense relations between the USA and Venezuela, as well as between the USA and China. China's demands for Maduro's return may signal an escalation of diplomatic tensions and a potential intensification of conflict in the region, considering China's strategic interest in supporting allies in Latin America. It also underscores the complexity of international politics, where human rights, state sovereignty, and geopolitical interests often come into conflict.
